Tips for Contributing to the Family Economy

1) Fun way to keep bills under control: One of the biggest expenses of the household is bills. By controlling bills, you can both save energy and manage your budget better. By informing all family members about this, you can make a habit of using electricity and water more consciously in your daily life. Apart from that, you can also reinforce these habits with fun activities.

Here’s a little game: Who scores the most points win! :)
You can start the game as a family on a weekly or daily basis. It’s easy to earn points, all you have to do is following:
  • Turning off an unnecessary light it,
  • Unplugging items such as chargers, hair straighteners that are in thesocket even though they are not used at all times.
  • Warning about unnecessarily running water.
Those who earn the most points are exempt from housework that week. 😊

2) Don't throw it away, have it repaired:  It will help your budget to have your broken items repaired instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Although it takes time, it is much more affordable to have items repaired than buying a new one.

3) Go for minimal living: Minimalism is a term we've heard a lot lately. It means getting rid of excesses and not keeping non-functional objects around. Applying the philosophy of minimalism at home regulates your consumption habits as well as refreshes and relaxes living spaces. Thus, it allows you to control your budget as well. Here are a few questions that will encourage minimal thinking: 😊

Look at the items around you, which ones do you really need?
What are the clothes you haven't worn at all this summer?
What are the clothes you haven't worn at all this winter? Would you feel the lack of them if they weren’t there?
What about your shoes?
What kind of clothes do you use the least? Do they need to be so various?
What are the household items that you have never used or touched in the last 2 months?
If you had to tremove 3 items from your living room, which ones would you remove?

4- Plan your grocery shopping in advance: Of course, we have to go to the grocery store or order online the supplies we need at home. In this process, we can sometimes purchase things that we don't actually need. Creating a list of needs by identifying the deficiencies in advance and shopping according to your priorities will make your job easier.
